Paphiopedilum insigne (Wallich ex Lindley) Pfitzer

Probably the easiest of all Paphiopedilum species to grow in temperate climates as a garden plant where it spreads like crazy, or as a pot plant in the bush house or semi shaded terrace. It is quite a vigorous orchid and can produce many blooms in late Autumn and during Winter. The coloured form is well known as are line bred albanistic forms. It is a native of Nepal and north eastern India.
