Paphiopedilum appletonianum (Gower) Rolfe.

A terrestrial species native to Cambodia, Laos and Thailand often found in grass lands. The plants produce a tall inflorescence to show the single blooms above the grass populations it is found growing in. This species is not uncommon in cultivation and it prefers intermedate cultural conditions.
