Oncidium sphegiferum Lindl.

A very showy species from the forests of south eastern Brazil. It is from the Pulvinata section and apparently quite rare in cultivation. It is found as a mid tree epiphyte at elevations of up to 1200m and often found growing with other epiphytes and Oncidium species such as O. harrisoniam Lindl. and O. gardneri Lindl. this very showy species bears a branched inflorescence from 50-100cm long, with as many as 100 flowers or more. It is a very easy grower in intermediate to cool conditions.
