Maxillaria sophronitis (Rchb.f.) Garay
This quaint little species is endemic to Venezuela at about elevations of 1200m. It is a real wanderer sending out leads in many directions, from its tiny psuedobulbs, which reach up to 1.2cm tall. Single, long lasting orange-red blooms reaching about 1cm across, arise from the base of each psuedobulb during cooler weather.
