Gongora superflua Rchb.f.

Here we have one of the rarest species from the whole genus. It was named by Professor Reichenbach back in 1874. It was originally discovered near Loja on the eastern side of the Andes Mountains. Apparently this species has not been seen in the wild or culture for many many years. Plants recently published as this species in Europe are in fact a new taxa.
