Although apparently restricted to Panama in distribution, it is more common in collections than you think . Usually under the name G. quinquenervis. The blooms are quite variable in colour and in size. They produces a strong, sweet and spicy perfume, which is similar to cardamon and nutmeg. There are numerous forms of this species around in culture, which are sometimes incorrectly labelled.
