Gongora flaveola Rchb.f.

An amazing and beautifully coloured species from Colombia. Southern Colombia is suspected as its habitat, but not really known for sure. It is closely related to G. gratulabunda Rchb.f. & G. similis Rchb.f. from the section Gratulabunda. It has a sweet, unusual perfume, similar to that of new unburned candle wax. The blooms themselves are very waxy and they are some of the larger of the genus.
