The angraecoids are a very romantic and mystical group of orchids from Africa and Madagascar. There are about 1200 species or so in about 55 genera. They are indeed unique, and there is not a single species that occurs on both mainland Africa and Madagascar.

One of the most interesting things about them is there highly perfumed blooms of an evening. The perfumes are often some of the spiciest and sweetest you will find amongst any flowering plant group. The reason for perfume production of an evening is to accommodate and to attract their pollinators, commonly known as moths.
