Cyrtorchis arcuata (Lindl.) Schltr.
A hardy species from a genus of about 16 epiphytic taxa, presently thought to be restricted to Africa in distribution. C. arcuata is probably the best known of the genus, and is occassionaly found in domestic collections in many countries. There are 4 sub species of C. arcuata, but var. whytei is probably the best var. as it is quite tolerant of a wider range of growing conditions and produces the largest blooms for this particular species.
